THE PICTURE: A WORK OF THEORY AND FICTION
BY: YVONNE M. IGNACIO

This is a story about the illusion of love, passion burnt on the flesh: an odyssey of desire. Within, there is an undersong of photography, quantum physics, worship and war.

"I opened the door, and against the odds, there he stood. At last. Three months of waiting and wishing on every pagan symbol and modern charm."

Summary of THE PICTURE: A WORK OF THEORY AND FICTION

At my events, I am lifted from the pages. Come along; I invite you to stare.

Book Signings and Readings

I have received The Editors Choice Award, which means, my book will be highlighted in the next Booksurge catalogue, a reference used in libraries and most bookstores. It is now outside its boundary as a book, it exists in a cultural frame, beyond itself, desirable.  So it is like a painting in a museum, i.e. an artwork, because of the space it occupies, a context of dramatic civilization.

Into this tone, this aura, please settle. Here time stops in the middle of a song; everything posed between day and night, and then night takes over.

On this Website, you'll find the Prologue and excerpts from the sections  titled, Thesis and Antithesis from my debut novel THE PICTURE: A WORK OF THEORY AND FICTION, a refraction of the cover, an author's interview and a summary. There is also my confirmed book readings, samples of my commercial work, and the short story, Antiquarian Tales . I will soon add portions from my future publications: SURFER GIRL; A NIGHT OF PETAL, LEAF AND NECTAR; and the book I am ghostwriting, MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE RANCH...

This is a good place to go for an aesthetic lift.

Publishing Information for THE PICTURE A WORK OF THEORY AND FICTION

This cover of THE PICTURE: A WORK OF THEORY AND FICTION is of Kim Mosley's exquisite sculpture Essence. I chose it because it smolders like a souvenir of passion, and though it is marble, it is mobile; there is what is invisible and visible, hanging on a lyrical edge. I framed it, and distressed it, to reflect the text within: terror and beauty. Nate Lewis laid it down lovingly within its nests of words, and then bubbled it in Sagittarius's stars, so that it seemed full of storms.

This impression functions as my publisher's logo. It is me, for that is the only image I truly own. I embedded it with the colors of semi-precious stones, citrine, peridot, and tourmaline. It is also the link to my readings and signings. Already libraries, bookstores, restaurants and sundry stores are graciously providing their platforms. But because the publishing date is still tentative, I am delaying scheduling most of these events.

If the opportunity is provided, I would like others to join me in reading my excerpts ad alta voce. Please contact me if you are interested in declaiming winsomely along with me. It will be like jewelry that can be re-arranged in group design.

A LITERARY DISCOURSE ABOUT
THE PICTURE: A WORK OF THEORY AND FICTION

July 2002,  my book was featured on Nathan Lewis literary and art site, on which I said:
"I would like to smash all dictates about novels, shatter all the accepted idioms, in exchange for unlimited amorphousness and obscure attractions, to expunge old worlds, nostalgic, as I am to restore the unity of primeval chaos. I know I appeal only to those with Cyclopean souls, hardy enough to withstand a state of crisis or an intrepid idea. Still and all, after the initiative trials, this is still, a pursuit of the flesh, the perfect form, the survival of the intellect, a trek back to Ithaca, towards the center. "

Interviews and Articles

It was happenchance. I e-mailed Catherine Ryan, vice president of communications at www.novica.com, but it was a letter and a link to my excerpts meant for another. Liking this surprise, she in turn, gave this glimpse to Nathan Lewis, a client of one of her artist. That began this interview, and later a greater collaboration on my book. A constant flux of one blessing to another.

E-mail is fantastic to me as the boldly carved and painted doors of Zanzibar: opening one gives me a facial flush. And so, I opened a letter fron Nate,  to be told that Booksurge had featured my book in its e-zine.  On the other side of this link is my mirage of a mansion.

"Love, Lust and Loss in Santa Clarita Valley
An eco-journey into erotic fiction"
Would anyone label Lady Chatterly's Lover as erotica? No, because a man wrote it, it is simply literature.

This is the first article written about me. I hope there are more; like warm dawns to awaken to. I have included a transcipt of both the article, and the interviews it was based upon. The two styles of communication merge, journalism harvesting my lyticism. The article is like walking past a tavern and  briefly looking through the windows. The writer Anne Marie Mills has my deepest thanks.
